How We Work With You

We’ll get to know your goals, give you advice, and support you along the way. Here’s the important information you need to know about how we do that.

Licensing Information

Guardian Financial Planning Limited (FSP1005285) is a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FAP). We’re regulated by the Financial Markets Authority to provide financial advice in New Zealand.

What We Can Help You With

We provide advice and guidance on:

  • KiwiSaver

  • Investments

  • Mortgages

  • Insurance

  • Direct Property Investment

  • Cashflow Management

  • Retirement Planning

  • Financial Planning

How We Work With Providers & Fees

KiwiSaver & Managed Funds

We work with Generate, Milford Asset Management Ltd, Booster, Kernel, Quay St and NZ Funds. These providers may pay us a commission when you join, plus an ongoing service fee. Sometimes this might cost you extra – sometimes it won’t. We will always let you know and seek your approval if any fees are involved.

Mortgages

We provide advice on mortgages and lending provided by the following providers:

  • ANZ

  • ASB

  • BNZ

  • KiwiBank

  • AIA Go Home Loans

  • Co-Operative Bank

  • Avanti Finance

  • SBS

  • Prosper

  • Unity Money

We generally do not charge clients fees for arranging a mortgage, as we are usually paid commissions from the above mentioned providers. If we do need to charge a fee for advice, we will discuss this with you in advance of starting any work.

Insurance

We provide advice on the right level and type of insurance for your needs. Our preferred insurers are Partners Life, AIA, Fidelity and NIB. When you take out or change a policy, we may receive a commission from the insurer. There are no additional costs to you.

Direct Property Investment

We provide strategy and advice on direct residential investment property in New Zealand. We may help to source quality investment properties on your behalf. We may receive a fee from the property vendor. You won’t be charged extra for this.

Cashflow Management

We offer tailored programmes to help you manage your money day-to-day. A fee will apply for this service, depending on the level of support and monitoring you choose.

Retirement Planning

We provide advice and strategies to help you reach your retirement goals. Fees will depend on the complexity and level of advice required.

Financial Planning

We create personalised financial plans to help you achieve your long-term goals. Fees depend on the time, complexity, and scope of advice needed.

How Fees Work

If Guardian Financial Planning charges a fee for advice, we’ll always talk about it with you first. You’ll never be charged anything without your prior consent. The exact fee will be confirmed before we start any work.

Conflicts of Interest and Commissions

Guardian Financial Planning may receive commissions or fees from product providers and specialists we work with. We are not tied to any specific provider, lender or insurer.

Because we receive commissions and get paid for the service we provide to you, there are potential conflicts of interest.

To make sure our advice is always in your best interests:

  • Any recommendations are based on your goals and financial situation — not on fees or commissions.

  • We always disclose any fees or commissions we might receive.

  • We follow a structured advice process and keep records showing how our advice puts your interests first.

  • Our advisers receive annual training on identifying and managing conflicts of interest.

  • We maintain a register of conflicts, gifts, and incentives, which is monitored regularly.

  • We have an independent compliance review carried out annually.

You can be confident that our advice is about helping you achieve the right long-term outcomes — not about maximising fees or commissions.
