Meet Amy Po-Ching *

Co-founder and Head Financial Planner.

Speaker and advocate for helping Kiwis feel clearer and more confident with money.

Amy Po-Ching is the Co-Founder and Head Financial Planner at Guardian Financial Planning. With over 2 decades in financial services, her focus is simple: helping everyday Kiwis get clear on what to do with their money, make confident decisions, and build long-term financial security.

Amy brings together financial planning, investment strategy, KiwiSaver, cashflow and retirement planning to help clients see the bigger picture. Rather than looking at financial decisions in isolation, she helps people understand how the different pieces work together — and what their right next steps are.

For Amy, good financial advice isn’t about selling products or simply chasing the highest return. It’s about understanding the life you want to create, then making smart, purposeful financial decisions that help you get there.

At 22, I walked away from my corporate job with just $500 in the bank to start what would eventually grow into a multi-million-dollar financial planning business.

The journey taught me a lot — often the hard way — but it also gave me freedom, choice, and the ability to help other everyday Kiwis build brighter financial futures.

I grew up in a hardworking family shaped by two very different cultures. From my dad’s Samoan side, I learned the importance of family, generosity, music, laughter, and food — even when money was tight. From my mum’s Kiwi side, I learned to save, be sensible, and live within your means. Their contrasting views on money often clashed, but they helped me see what I wanted for my own future — and what I didn’t.

From as early as I can remember, I was determined to “be a millionaire”, not for the money, but for the freedom it represented: a nice home, time with my kids, travel, choices and security. I had no roadmap and no financial education, but I was committed to figuring it out. And I did.

Today, I’m living the life I once dreamed of — raising my four-year-old twin boys, making memories, and building a secure future full of choices. The best part? I get to help others do the same; because we all deserve to feel financially secure, and to know, deep down, that we’re gonna be okay.

I’m on a mission to help Kiwi’s change the way they feel about money. To turn worry, stress, and uncertainty into clarity and confidence, with a clear plan to build wealth and financial security in a way that feels right for them.

Whether it’s paying down debt, learning to invest, creating passive income, or preparing for a comfortable retirement – I want everyday hardworking New Zealander’s to have access to quality financial advice so they can take control of their money and build a life that feels good now – and in the future.

Start Them Young

Alongside helping adults create financial freedom, Amy’s also passionate about inspiring the next generation. She recently wrote her first children’s book — Bazzy & Bobo and the Orange Tree 🍊📚 — a fun, engaging story designed to teach kids simple money concepts and entrepreneurial thinking. It’s the first in the Bazzy & Bobo series, inspired by her own twin boys and her belief that financial literacy is one of the best gifts you can give your child.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about money — it’s about freedom.
Freedom to make choices, live life your way, and do the things that truly matter.

That’s what drives everything I do — helping people find financial clarity and create direction with purpose, so they can move forward confidently knowing they’re on the right track.

Because when your money’s sorted and you feel financially secure, everything else feels a little lighter.”
